يعاند معمل نفخ الزجاج في الصرفند الاقفال في ظل انعدام أسواق التصريف والكلفة الباهظة للتصنيع، بين محروقات وكهرباء ويد عاملة، ما جعل هذا المحترف اليدوي الوحيد المتبقي، بعد إقفال طاول كل محترفات نفخ الزجاج في لبنان وكان آخرها معمل «البدّاوي» الذي أغلق أبوابه منذ نحو عشر سنوات، في دائرة الخطر والاحتضار المستمرين «يقفل... لا يقفل». ولولا صبر القيّمين عليه، وطول باعهم، واحترامهم لمهنة الجدود، لكان هذا المحترف الأخير قد طوى صفحته وانتهى إلى زوال.
